My 10 year old boy ate a banana and suddenly didn''t feel well. His stomach felt weird and his tongue started itching. His throat feels like there is a lump in it and it hurts and his inner ears itch. He said he was having trouble breathing and was panicking a bit. He has eaten bananas before without any kind of reaction. I gave him some benedryl. Is there anything else I can do for him?

These symptoms do suggest a type of allergic reaction. Unfortunately, you can develop an allergy at any time to anything - even something that you have been exposed to on multiple occasions.

Benadryl may be given (available over-the-counter) - however, it would suggest having him seen immediately in an emergency room to determine the severity of the allergic reaction.
